How to Start a Book Club Through Instagram |

So you love to read, but haven't got anyone to share your thougts with. Starting a book club can be a great way to get new connections and meet others who share a mutual love of reading. Instagram is a good place to start as you can upload pictures, write, analyse, comment and work on getting followers. You don't necessary need to meet up in person either as Instagram makes it easy for you to keep it all digital. Setting Up Your Profile First of all, what do you like to read? Romance, fiction, thrillers? Start by promoting the things that make you look twice at the bookshelf. Who are you and why is reading such a big interest of yours? Who do you want to discuss stories with, and what are your personal goals with this profile? Be as specific as you can. Reading and photography are two very different mediums, so try to glorify the reading process. Upload quotes that you come across; take pictures while you're reading in the park or at a café. This will inspire others to join your group. On your profile make a small presentation about yourself and what sort of books you like to read, along with a little blurb about what you wish to achieve with your book club. Encourage others to get in touch, and if you have a website or Facebook Group, make sure you link to it. Finding Followers When you've uploaded some photos and made your profile, start searching for followers. First, look for people that you know who have an active interest in books. Ask these people to share your Instagram profile with others through Facebook and Twitter. Make sure you're active when looking for people as this is the only way to make them find you. Tag your photos with words that best describe what you do: #books #bookclub #reading #joinabookclub. This will boost your profile rankings in the search section. If you want to get off to a flying head start, buy Instagram views. This will show others that other people are actively engaging with your profile and posts. Getting Serious If you want to up the stakes (after you've got a couple of active followers) think about getting yourself a logo that defines your book club and start messaging others, asking for recommendations. Try to have an active discussion with your followers and really involve them in your community. By making your followers a part of your book club, others may see that they can be a part of it as well. Republish pictures of your followers, holding their recommended books, and share the snaps on your profile along with a blurb. Create a chat group via Facebook where you can all have an active discussion about what you've been reading. Remember to discipline yourself (and do your best to keep others in check!). Set dates and make a reading timeline. Plan an online meeting and see how you've all been impacted by the book. Hopefully, you will get a bunch of different perspectives and learn to see the book in a brand new light.
